Darn Tough Heavyweight Socks

Our heavyweight wool socks provide maximum warmth and comfort. Always with cushion, these thick Merino Wool socks are ones you won’t want to take off, whether you're standing on a glacier or lounging on the couch. 

When we talk weights, we are referring to the specific yarn in the sock and the relative thickness of that yarn, not weight on a scale. The finer the yarn, the smaller it is in diameter.

Our Heavyweight socks use the thickest yarn to keep your toes the warmest. Think about it like bulking and shredding season. The colder the weather becomes, the more bulk you want to put on in to keep you warmer. That’s when you’ll find yourself grabbing a pair of high quality winter socks.

Don’t worry though; while these are the thickest Darn Tough socks we knit, the yarn is still thin, like a thread. 

Thick Wool Socks

Calling these "thick socks" is relative; they're certainly thicker than our Lightweight socks. Our Heavyweight with Cushion sock styles are the warmest socks we knit, for truly cold weather and maximum protection. Unlike our other socks weights that can come with or without cushion, our heavyweight socks always come with cushion, if not a full cushion of terry loops.

Because of the higher yarn weight, these socks contain a higher wool content, allowing for maximum Merino Wool benefits. Even these arguably heavy wool socks are breathable and moisture wicking to keep feet dry.
